Known as the “Jewel of the Court Complex,” the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center is used by the Juvenile Probation Department, Juvenile Detention, Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1 Constable, and Juvenile District Courts. The nine-story building includes 215 juvenile beds, medium and high risks cells, a cafeteria, day rooms, administrative offices and an indoor/outdoor rooftop recreation center. Renovation on the 1951 building began in 2003 and was completed in 2006.
